More than 3,000 attendees enjoyed the inaugural Welcome Home Celebration hosted by the Cincinnati VA Medical Center, on May 17, 2008, at Lunken Airport. Veterans from 19 to 90, families and friends were entertained by skydiving exhibitions, live musical performances, a Warbirds flyover, static displays from local military units and much more. Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductee, Anthony Munoz, provided his special touch as Master of Ceremonies.
The event was made possible through the generous support of community businesses and organizations. JTM Food Group, Grippo's Potato Chips, Butternut Bread, Home City Ice, United Dairy Farmers, Tropicana Casino & Resorts, BAE Systems, The Thank You Foundation, Bellevue Veterans Club, WarBirds, the City of Cincinnati and many others contributed significantly to the success of the celebration. In addition, 200 volunteers gave generously of their time.
